Privacy

What we store

Joining a friend round shares your display name and finished score in that chat. Temporary party records expire after one hour and are deleted in the next successful cleanup. Anonymous answers and scores remain with the game server, which receives only hashed member and server ids. Full details: privacy policy.

Troubleshooting

Commands not working?

/bluff doesn’t appear when I type /

Use Add to my apps for your own commands, or have an admin use Add to server for everyone there. Then reload Discord (Ctrl+R or Cmd+R). The server or channel may also restrict app commands.

My friends can’t see the round

A server can prevent personal apps from posting publicly with the Use External Apps permission. Who's Bluffing respects that setting. Ask an admin whether games are welcome there, or start /bluff party in a group chat where everyone wants to play.

“Only members with the Manage Server permission can do that”

/bluff setup and /bluff reveal need the Manage Server or Administrator permission. Ask someone who has it, or have an admin give your role Manage Server.

The server leaderboard says “a member” instead of names

The /bluff stats leaderboard looks up server members. If everyone shows as “a member”, please tell us on GitHub. Only the first 1,000 members of a server can be named. Friend rounds use the display name you share when joining instead.

“This interaction failed”

Update your Discord app (or reload the browser tab) and try again: older versions can’t show the buttons. If it keeps happening, the game server may be down for a moment; the status page shows whether it answers.

“I can’t post in that channel”

Give Who's Bluffing the View Channel and Send Messages permissions in that channel, or pick another one with /bluff setup channel:.

The app shows as offline

The game commands can still work even when Discord shows the bot as offline. Try /bluff play. If the command fails too, wait a moment and try again.

FAQ

Questions

What does it cost?

Nothing. Who's Bluffing is free and non-commercial, with no ads and no paid plan.

Do I have to manage a server?

No. Choose Add to my apps, then try /bluff party in a chat with friends. Server and channel permissions still apply. Add to server is for admins who want the app available to their whole server.

Who can change the channel or the hour?

Members with the Manage Server or Administrator permission, with /bluff setup. Everyone else can post the question, play and see the leaderboard.

How are points worked out?

Each answer scores 100 − 400 × (confidence − outcome)², where the outcome is 1 if right and 0 if not: 50% scores 0, and 100% scores +100 when right and −300 when wrong. Honest confidence earns the most over time.

What is roast mode?

Off by default: the reveal says “Someone was 90% sure…”, and nobody is named next to a loss. /bluff setup roast:on names the biggest bluffer in the reveal.

Where can I find the Discord app?

Find Who's Bluffing? in Discord's App Directory, or use Add to my apps above. Choose a topic and difficulty with /bluff party, or try /bluff play for a private ten-question round.
